"Hmmm... this main switch in the centre here looks like it will activate something important..." Hans says towards the group, "You wouldn't know what it does, little guy?" Hans grins towards the spider, going over to join Alicia to see what has caught her attention. [look at the rocks the construct is cleaning aswell]

Why a spider? Leath wondered. If someone were going to take the trouble to build this thing, why a spider? He knew spiders as creatures that survived on treachery; patient planning, waiting for prety to bumble into their webs. They bound their victims and sucked out their guts. And here was a spider built by man, cleaning a room. Maybe he was over-thinking it. Maybe this place was making him crazy. But he kept his hand on the hilt of his sword in case the party's diplomats' approach toward the spider failed.

[Yes, heads. Sorry for any confusion.]
The construct does not reply to Hans in any way, continuing its task of cleaning out the gunk. Suddenly, a charge of electricity jumps from its mechanical fangs, vaporizing the grime pooled before it. One of the spider's legs opens up to reveal a small compartment, and another leg brushes the ash in, presumably for disposal later. The spider skitters towards the control panel, and pulls the large lever in the center.
The closed set of doors, presumably leading deeper down, open up. The loosening of dead bolts and locks can also be heard as the metal doors open up. Beyond the double doors seems to be a forest of some kind, as trees and plants are visible, as well as light. There is only a split second to observe this, though, before the spider vanishes within, and the door closes. The lever resets, leaving the party in the empty room. There is a fire place and chimney in a corner they noticed before. The location seems to be a logical campsite for exploring deeper in to the complex. The doors can be bolted and locked with the mechanism, although it is unknown if any constructs would bother them.

She watches the spider leave with curiosity leaving the vigilance for Azreal to handle . "Well at least we know the door is not a trap" She says as the door closes habitually straightening the creases in her garb as she straitens herself.
"So shall we proceed then?" she asks matter of factly gesturing towards the door. On her cue Azreal goes to the levers and pulls them.

The door opens with a quiet creak, revealing yet more stairs that descend further. Psychils takes a step onto the top step and the staircase is bathed in a low light from a series of circular orbs set in sconces set high along the brass-sheeted walls. Thin copper cables weave in and out of the walls, apparently connecting and powering the strange illuminating lights. "I've never seen light this consistent before," he mutters. "So unlike a torch in appearance, yet so alike it in function. I've never seen technology of the like. It does seem to confirm the Ionian hypothesis."
He continues his descent, attempting to keep quiet as hushed whispers fill his hearing.

[Perception roll=9]
Azreal opens the door without issue, and Psychlis notes what lies at the end of the door that just opened. His helmet begins glowing, and an arcane map is projected before his eyes before vanishing. "Forest Conservatory One," he says, as if something else was speaking through him.
Jiao cautiously enters, keeping his weapon trained in front of him. The muzzle of the gun points into what appears to be a forest, but it is immediate that something is amiss. Looking up, he sees a massive set of lights, powerful torches of glass with thin copper filaments connecting them. In addition to them, a system of mirrors is arrayed around the perimeter of the cavern, as to provide more uniform lighting. The cavern is roughly a circle in shape, with a total diameter of two hundred yards or so. He spies a sleeping bear in front of him, laying peacefully next to a half eaten deer carcass.

Hans tentatively follows the group through the door. Upon seeing the bear Hans points at it and flailing his hands wildly to make sure he isn't the only one seeing it. One hand still flailing he reaches carefully for his musket and loads it.

"Don't bother it!" Leath whispers quickly to the group, putting his hand in front of Hans's musket. "It's sleeping. Let's try to move quietly through and get to where we have to go. If it wakes up and anything happens, I can handle it. I'm good with animals, and failing that, I've got a spell that can take care of it peacefully."

There's a soft moaning in the woods behind the party. Jiao looks first, but Leath and Alicia notice immediately afterwards. There's a bear cowering behind a tree, undoubtedly calling for its mother. The larger bear's eyelids begin to lift.

Leath raises his arms slowly, in a calming fashion, and projects his peaceful intentions toward the adult bear.
[Cast "Charm animal."]
The party doesn't hear anything from Leath, but it appears as if he is engaging in mental conversation with the bear at an instinctual, non-verbal level.

"Get away from cub!" Leath can pick up cues from the mother bear. The mother bear is now on all four legs, growling at the party. Leath realizes that the party's position between the mother and cub would need to be rectified first.

[I'm not really following the geography here, but I'll assume my character is.]
Making no sudden movements, Leath leads the party off at an angle, far off to the side, to leave the mother bear a clear line to her child. He attempts to coax the mother and cub together so they'll reunite and leave the party alone. [Wild empathy check on the cub.]

[OOC Note: I miss Orgoth, but I know if he were here this bear would have an axe in its head already and my druidic attempts at a peaceful resolution would be for naught.]

Alicia and Azreal follow Leathes instructions as quickly and calmly as possible.
