Psychlis spell engulfs the prone man, burning him to a crisp.
[Spell deals 12 damage.]
Cesare ceases moving after that, left as a badly burnt body on the ground.
[Combat has ended.]
---
Leath grabs the sphere from his hands, and gestures Jiao over. "Let's end this," he says.
The two begin the sealing ritual, removing the last of Yog Sothoth's taint from the world. Jiao begins channeling positive energy, trying to heal the party of their wounds. As they try to make sense of what has happened, Julio approaches them. He looks down at the burnt body.
"Whatever he has planned has caused enough death," he says. "But what passes for Rome still remains. My followers have been busy treating the wounded. While I've inflicted enough violence in my quest for power, I cannot help but realize that I was wrong. All I can ask for now is that my followers be left in peace."
Just then, a battered Erik approaches them.
"The Emperor is dead," he says. "While Basil was slain by the cultists and their infernal dragon, we have found his successor."
The Varangians kneel before Psychlis.
---
Hans recalls he had made contracts with the Varangians, as well as his relations with the First Dwarves and Newton and the newly appointed Emperor. He realizes he will soon be a very, very wealthy man...
---
Leath spies Flann with another companion: the horse that was pulling the cultists' wagon. His animal companion now seems content enough.
---
Jiao walks towards a nearby gathering of civilians, and begins healing their wounded.
