[Musketeer's will save: 7, fails.]
The musketeer hears Psychlis' suggestion to draw out the others, but would not shoot them. He fires the weapon into the air, a loud crack sending birds flying from nearby treetops.
The three drunks look up angrily at him. The laborers almost drop their crates. The other musketeer glares at him.
"Hey, everyone!" he happily exclaims. "I need to tell you all something!"
A man dressed similar to the musketeers emerges from the ruins, only with ribbons on his shoulders signifying some kind of rank. He carries a blunderbuss in hand. Behind him, two guards clad in metal armor with shields and pistols escort him out. Some laborers grab axes and picks from a nearby tool rack as they follow him out of the ruins.
"Private, what is your major malfunction?" the apparent officer shouts.
---
At the top of the cliff, Leath sees Flann standing near the boulder that would start the avalanche, as if awaiting his companion's approval to start.

His heart beating rapidly, Leath gives a signal to Flann to dislodge the boulder, and the horse strikes it with all his weight and force, sending it rolling down towards the enemies below.

Boulders tumble down the mountain, a chthonic thunder of gravity and stone. The mercenaries only react before its too late, the lucky ones running while most stand transfixed by the stone cascade. The drunks and musketeers fall, but the commander and two lucky soldiers manage to run away. He catches sight of Flann at the top of the hill, and immediately runs.
The two survivors join him, following him out of fear. Each has a heavy crossbow, while the officer has several single-shot pistols.
Lt. Foster attacks as they run, hitting one of the crossbowmen in the shoulder.
[Attack roll=17, 2 damage dealt to crossbowmen.]
"Get to cover, you maggots!" he shouts as he dives behind one of the ruins' walls. Ambush!" he shouts. "Ready volley!"

Alicia lets loose a bolt targeting the officer while Azreal stealthy sticks to the shadows as he descends towards his targets.

Azreal manages to get to the bottom of the cliff by following a path wrapping behind the hill, and fact the enemies are focusing on the clifftop. He still needs to close the distance to get to them, though.
Alicia's crossbow bolt arrives before Azreal does, nailing the officer in the chest before he can duck back behind cover.
[Alicia scored a 19, crit confirmed. She deals 13 total damage to the office.]
---
Hans' rifle thunders across the cliffside, blasting at the wall. The shot ricochets off the stone between him and his targets, but it does get the crossbowmen to duck.
[Hans' shot misses, attack roll of 13.]
His breech loading rifle is ready to fire again, as it is much easier to handle than that musket.

Psychlis waits for one of the two guards to pop their head back up before firing his own crossbow at them.

Leath watches the others rain crossbow bolts and bullets on the three survivors, and figures his sling doesn't have the range needed to be as effective. He calls on the plants in the area to bind the trio to prevent them from escaping and make it easier for the party to finish them off. [Cast Entangle]

Vines shoot out of the ground, entangling the enemy soldiers. The enemy officer, however, manages to avoid the snare of the supernaturally augmented vines now reaching for them.
[Crossbowmen entangled, officer saves.]
---
Seeing a chance, Psychlis fires and scores a hit on a crossbowman thrashing on the ground.
[Psychlis attack roll=18, deals 4 damage.]
---
The officer, seeing how the battle is going, turns and runs into the forest.
---
The crossbowmen thrash helplessly, their weapons almost yanked from their grasp by sentient vines. They manage to get off two more shots, but both go wild and strike parts of the cliff.
---
Due to his shotgun's limited range, Jiao uses his revolver to aim at the fleeing officer, and fires. The pistol is hardly an optimal weapon at the range, but it is the only one he has. Unsurprisingly, the does not hit.
[Jiao's attack roll=6, after range increment penalties]
---
[Round 2]
Azreal is within 30 ft of flat terrain towards the entangled crossbowmen and the fleeing officer. Both are in opposite directions relative to his current position, however.

"Stop the one that is running away before he can tell the others" She says to azreal over the link trying to aim a shot at him herself. Azreal takes the order and goes into a dead sprint to bring his new blade down on the errant solider.

Realizing he will probably be ineffective at this range, but not wanting to run down the hill alone (aside from Azrael) to engage in melee combat, Leath loads a stone into his sling and sends it sailing towards the entangled crossbowmen.

Hans fires a shot at the escaping officer [grit]. "What next? Are we going to hold position or advance?"

Psychlis lets another arrow loose from his crossbow. These retreating soldiers aren't enough of a threat to warrant a spell. "Advance! Let's press our advantage. If we let them get away, they'll warn others and we'll lose the element of surprise, as well as our shot at whatever's in these ruins!"

Azreal overtakes the fleeing officer, and swings his mighty greatsword. The officer lets out a cry as blood pours out of a wound across his back. Alicia's aim is as not as lucky as her companion's, however.
[Azreal rolls a 17, deals 10 damage to the officer. Alicia rolled a 2.]
---
Leath's stone hits one of the entangled soldiers in the forehead, dazing him for a moment.
[Leath's roll: 16, deals 3 damage to crossbowmen.]
---
Psychlis' aim fails him, but narrowly. The crossbow bolt hits the wall slightly below the entangled soldier.
[Psychlis' roll was 13.]
---
Hans' rifle shot nails the officer in the back of the head. He drops down in front of the tree line, dead.
[Hans scored a 20, crit unconfirmed. He dealt 8 damage.]
---
The entangled crossbowmen draw knives and begin hacking at the foliage surrounding them. As they see their officer fall nearby, they drop their weapons.
"Shit, sniper!" one says. "We're surrounded!"
"We surrender!" the other says, throwing up his hands. The other first reluctant, but eventually does the same. "You've got us outnumbered and outflanked!"
[Combat has ended.]
---
There is a path by the side of the cliff, the one Azreal descended from, which offers the second most direct path after leaping down.
"I'm going to go there and tie them up," Jiao says. "Anyone care to join me?"
"Sure, I'll pump 'em for info," Lt. Foster says. "They're paid thugs, so they're more interested in cash than causes any day."
The two begin descending the hillside, along with the others. The party reaches the bottom of the hill, and finds the two mercenaries still waiting with their hands up, supernatural vines still binding them.

"Alicia, why don't you and I see if we can dechiper some of the ruins while Jiao and Lieutenant Foster interrogate the prisoners? Hans and Leath can watch for any other soldiers that may be about."
