"That seems like a sound plan" she says gesturing for him to go ahead of her.

"I'll handle the interrogation," Lt. Foster says. "But I'll need you nearby, Jiao, in case our prisoners are wounded."
The cleric nods, and follows the ranger as she leads away the two disarmed mercenaries behind a bush.
---
The ruins entrance nearest to the party's location is a small square entrance without a door. A pile of picks and digging tools rests nearby, with a weapon rack just inside. On the left wall, Alicia and Psychlis can see sets of characters. They seem parallel, with Greek characters above the strange symbols of Aklo. The Greek message, seems longer than the Aklo script, but they'd need to go inside and read each to see what they say.

"Alicia, why don't you keep watch and inspect the weapons rack for anything useful, and I'll see if I can translate the Greek message," Psychlis says. "It's on top, so it might be intended to be read first. After I'm done translating, we can switch and I'll take watch while you translate the Aklo."

Psychlis walks into the ruins, eager to read the Greek characters. He does not notice the trip wire until his boot catches on it.
[Perception roll=3]
The wizard sees the trap spring, too late to do anything. A tripwire along the floor is tied to the trigger of a blunderbuss on the nearby weapon rack. The firearm discharges, blasting the unfortunate wizard at point blank range.
[Weapon deals 3 damage, plus knocking prone.]
As he lies wounded, he recalls traps were perhaps one reason the enemy soldiers didn't run for cover down that passage. He looks at the wounds on his body, and realizes they could also have been a lot worse.

Startled by the sound she peers back at him from her sentry post. "Are you ok? should I send Azreal to request aid?" She says her eyebrows arched in concern.

Hans holds his position, keeping an eye on the others as they head down the hill, and scanning the surroundings for movement.

Jiao walks out of the bushes, bowing his head to Hans and Leath. "Curses," the cleric says. "One of the prisoners said they left traps in haste. I presume someone's wandered into one."
He turns to the bard. "Could you help check the ruin for more traps? I'm going to heal whoever's wounded."
---
Leath feels something in the air, something he notices after hearing the gunshot from the ruins.
[Knowledge (nature) check=14]
There is a feeling of some druidic power concentration, likely located within the ruins. From his feelings, it has something to do with the local ley lines. While not as powerful as the shrine to the south, there is still a faint trace from within the stone structure.
---
Psychlis spots something shimmering in the darkness at the end of the hallway, something that was not glowing seconds ago.
[Knowledge (arcana) check: 9]
He almost feels strands of magic, a strong bit of conjuration and a tinge of necromancy. Perhaps the shimmering has some relation to it.
---
As Alicia approaches the ruins, she feels a strong aura of conjuration magic increase within.

Hans nods reluctantly and heads down the hill to join the others, looking nervously around as he advances.
Upon arriving he greets the others and inspects the trap. He begins scanning the area for more, each step carefully testing his weight before fully moving onto the next.

"Only my pride is hurt," Psychlis grumbles, berating himself for his naivete about adventuring. It was not that long ago that he'd set up a cot in the comfort of his library to remain closer to his books. "But if you see that cleric, do send him my way."
While Hans begins inspecting possible other traps, he keeps one eye on the glimmering in the hallway as he makes his way over to the Greek inscription. "Hans, don't go down that hallway until I finish this translation and Alicia gets through the Aklo. There's something down there and these inscriptions might give us a hint as to its origin and purpose."

Azreal from his position nearby goes in search of of the Cleric. "The Wizard has triggered a trap and will be requiring assistance when possible. "He says flatly when he finds him. Alicia for her part casts a detect magic to try to better pinpoint the auras.

Jiao walks behind Psychlis and clenches his wounded arm. Positive energy flows from it, melding torn flesh back together and ejecting the lead pellets.
[Jiao channels energing, Psychlis healed completely.]
The Greek is a particularly old dialect, but Psychlis can understand it. "I, the spirit of Epeus of Corinth, was bound to this ruin after the Romans discarded my enchanted blade here. I cannot understand the strange script below, I believe it is the key to releasing me."
[Knowledge (history) check: 14.]
Psychlis recalls that Epeus of Corinth was a famous member of Alexander the Great's Companion cavalry, a summoner with a pegasus mount said to be directly from Mt. Olympus. His armor and arms were said to be enchanted artifacts, with one taken by the Romans into Gaul and the other sealed somewhere in the vaults of Byzantium during Constantine's reign. He does not know what the artifacts do, but if a summoner is involved, conjuration and planar transit are likely involved.
---
Alicia notes the Aklo seems older than the Greek. The strange ancient Greek soldier aparation appears to her again, eagerly pointing to both Greek and Aklo messages before vanishing. The message translates as: "Vault built into abandoned druidic temple. It seals planar transit artifacts. If ley lines misaligned, artifacts become impossible to retrieve. Spirits of prior owners may also be sealed within while artifact is stored."
There is no indication to who or what recorded the message in Aklo.
Her detect magic picks up something about 20 feet down the tunnel, towards the end. The conjuration aura lingers there, while a small necromantic one flashed when the Greek soldier appeared momentarily.
---
[Perception check: 9]
Hans does not see any more traps, but he notices something at the end of the tunnel: a large barrel of gunpowder, sitting opened and exposed.

Arcane runes glow at the end of the Greek and Aklo messages, unfurling into vine and fern-like shape at the end of the wall. Bird calls emanate from an unknown source, as well as the sounds of running water.
[Linguistics check: 12]
Psychlis is able to identify the language as druidic. He is unaware of the language or message that might be recorded, but he figures Leath might.

"hmmmmm, Should we retrieve the druid to see if he could give more input?" Alicia says to the mage as she looks down the hallway (summon Earth elemental to investigate the hallway)

The earth elemental walks down the corridor, and notices a small metal prong jutting from the floor about 15 feet from the party.

"Oh careful with that thing, there seems to be a barrel of gunpowder down the end of that corridor." Hans says to Alicia.
