Psychlis looks around. Three magic-using drow, two orcs, and two gnomes of questionable loyalty? Time to establish some advantage immediately. "Stone Call!"
Those magic-users have GOT to go.

The spell thunders like the blast of a blunderbuss, hitting the orcs and grazing one of the nearby drow. Plenty of blood flows, and Psychlis knows he's got a strong initial position with a summoner assisting him and Viking warband before him.
[Stone Call does 10 damage to orcs, 1 damage to drow. Drow now act in last place of initiative order.]
---
The drow have just finished killing the lone duergar, but turn towards the wizard and his allies.
---
The Viking shield wall holds easily against the two orcs, and cheers on Psychlis after his spell drops one of them. Their spears puncture the orcs, and they switch to axes at closer range. The orc presses on its rampage, but is badly, if not critically, wounded.
[Vikings deal 8 damage to the orc.]
---
Hans moves the metal out of the wall, and Jiao crawls into the machine. "Hold my leg," the cleric orders.

Leath is struck by the strange movement of the sheep, and attempts communication.
[Cast Speak with Animals.]
"Where did you come from?" he asks it, amid the conflict. "Is there something you're trying to tell me? I'll see to it that you are protected here."

"Let us improve our odds here" She says before shouting a command to go after the drow in terran as she walks over to the war leader seamlessly diverting into an arcane cant.

Hans holds Jiao's leg, trembling slightly under the strain. "We have to pick a side I suppose" he says up to Jiao. Hans begins to release a deep guttural hum, slowly rising in pitch and volume, a nordic warsong he remembers from when he was a boy [perform inspire confidence courage].

[Initiative Order (top to bottom): Psychlis, Viking warband, Alicia, drow.]
"Thanks, worthy warrior!" the Viking revels in his new size. He punts remaining orc, finishing it off. The drow, however, are ready. Two of the dark elves are clearly warriors or fighters of some kind, clad in armor with thin rapier-like blades. They cautiously advance, firing hand crossbows into the shield wall. One of the bolts hits, causing a Viking warrior to cry in agony as poison saps his strength.
There is a female drow, a cleric of some profane god, casting Silence. Sound drains from the frenzied battle as Psychlis and Alicia try to resist it. Any spell they cast with spoken commands would not work if they fail, as well as voice commands and conversation.
[Psychlis' Will roll (vs. DC 15): 14 fails, Alicia's roll=16 passes]
The wizard is not without any spells requiring spoken commands, although he recalls that the room's governing intelligence speaks telepathically. Perhaps he could request help from the strange intelligence that controls the place, using his mind...
The gnomes began chanting, but their voices soon fade as the spell drains away sound in the immediate vicinity. "Cthulhu fhtagn. Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn!" One gnome says the first word, while the other completes the chant. They alternate, acting as one mind in two bodies. Their elementals advance towards the sphere containment unit.
---
"I think I got it," Jiao says. "Thanks, Hans! Pull me out!"
As he tugs something in the machine, the lights in the room flicker off for a split second. Hans notices a small pod within the machine, a glass windowed vessel that could fight a curling human and definitely fit a dwarf. The pod is empty, but it is wired directly to the sphere.
---
"I'm from here," the sheep says to Leath. "I was a dwarf, but the damn drow polymorphed me! Your friends are in danger in there!"
The sheep continues frantically talking. "If they want the sphere, there's an easier way! Tell them to pull the red lever near the user pod!"

"I appreciate the help," Leath says. "We'll see what we can do for you." He looks up to Jiao and Hans and shouts to them, relaying the information from the sheep. "To get the sphere, pull the red lever near the user pod!" he shouts. He turns to the fight, which he has hitherto avoided, and casts Stone Call on the gnomes, hoping to disrupt their spell and do some damage. [Cast Stone Call on the gnomes; it's got a 40-ft. radius so if that hits the Drow, too, or the orcs, or the elementals, that'd be great, too.]

Hans hurriedly pulls Jiao out of the machine, almost dropping him.
Hans looks at the red lever suspiciously. "This one? Are you sure?" He yells back to Leath, and then says to Jiao "Get ready". Hans closes his eyes and pulls the lever.

"Would you like a list of defensive options?" the voice telepathically asks Psychlis. He can't speak a response, but he can think one.
---
Leath's spell manages to outright dissipate the fire elemental, but barely grazes the earth elemental. The gnomes have taken some wounds as well, but very superficial ones from the looks of them.
[Stone call deals 11 damage to all targets but kills fire elemental. Earth elemental and gnome twins begin combat with Leath, Hans, and Jiao. Initiative order for Fight 2: gnomes/elemental, Hans, Leath, Jiao.]
He pulls the lever, and the sphere and its box like container launch out of the machine. It clatters to the ground about a foot from Hans, just as Jiao stands back up. "Guess we can't catch a break, eh?" he pulls out his pepperbox pistol, and takes aim at the nearest foe.

'Fine, give the defensive options,' Psychlis thinks, reaching out to the voice. He also has a few choice thoughts that he beams directly at the drow, mostly a litany of Byzantine curses so profuse that they'd make a Dromon sailor blush. While he waits for the computer to bring up a list of options, he readies his crossbow and aims it between two of the Vikings forming his shield wall.

"Get the sphere!" Leath shouts to Hans, seeing it clatter to the ground. Then, turning his attention back to the remaining elemental and gnomes, he unleashes a rolling ball of fire, sending it first in the direction of the earth elemental. [Cast Flaming Sphere. Lasts three rounds, moving 30 feet per round and can jump 10 feet to strike a creature.]

[Heh, so the gnomes second fire elemental turned into my earth elemental? Does that mean We have co control or does that mean I only get him on Thursdays?]
Even though the spell had little effect on her, Without much further word she moves onwards in hopes of finding a spot where sound carried all the while preparing her trusty crossbow. She needed to talk to the elemental again or it would simply carry out the last attack command until there was nothing left of of the enemy.

Hans tentatively picks up the box and holds it under his arm. "If I start to go glowy eyes evil you have permission to subdue me but try to avoid the face." He says to Jiao, before awkwardly loading his dragoon pistol with his free arm.

[GM: Okay, sorry for confusion. In order to keep with the version of battle rolls presented earlier, the gnomes deployed two elementals: one fire and one earth. Tengen's earth elemental is still over with the Vikings in their shield wall. Not to worry, as the gnomes have more fun up their sleeves ] The sphere easily reaches the earth elemental and explodes, leaving a cloud of smoke and cinders welling up from the chamber floor. The earth elemental is gone, but the gnomes continue advancing. [Leath deals 13 damage to earth elemental.] What the spell does do, however, is briefly illuminate an immaterial and translucent guardian standing before the twins. It stands easily taller than the Vikings, and is roughly humanoid in form. Two enormous bat-like wings extend outwards from its back, and a beard of writing tentacles hangs from an otherwise humanoid head. "Ia! Ia! Cthulhu R'lyeh fhtagn!" the gnomes chant. --- [Alicia's knowledge (planes)=20] Something stirs within Alicia's mind. She recognizes this creature from a book of forbidden lore, a Starspawn of Cthulhu. She does know know who or what kind of being Cthulhu is, but it certainly is not benevolent to mortalkind and all life on Earth. Just as she can call upon Azreal, these gnomes can call upon a Starspawn to do their bidding. The being may speak Aklo, but whatever it is likely does not bother with speaking to its masters' commands. Enough physical and magical damage may cause it to retreat, especially damage from lightning. She notices that sound still carries where Jiao, Hans, and Leath are battling the gnomes. --- A blast form Jiao's pepperbox hits the spectral creature, but barely causes it to blink. The cleric curses to himself and cycles to the next barrel. [Attack roll=13, Jiao deals 4 damage.] --- Hans' dragon pistol is now loaded, but the gnomes and their alien "friend" are out of range for short range shot. His musket or a regular bullet would suffice if he wishes to open fire. --- Psychlis' crossbow bolt goes wild, and he curses. However, the system responds quickly. "Defensive options include subject pacification drones, electrified shielding, and dominated subject assistance. Do you wish to deploy them?" [Attack roll=7, miss] --- The Vikings charge towards the drow as one of their own falls from fatigue. The cleric shouts something in her native tongue at them, and they begin to fall back towards the entrance doors. The Vikings hesitate in their advance for a second, awaiting orders from Psychlis or Alicia. Alicia's earth elemental still stands tall in the center of their shield-wall. [Drow are retreating, one Viking takes 2 strength damage from poison. Psychlis and Alicia may pursue, withdraw from combat, or attempt to flank the gnomes and Starspawn.]
